Blue Star’s experience and expertise shone through brightly as they dominated the game throughout leaving Rossendale with not a lot of hope after five goals were converted,  including a hat trick from former Newcastle United player Paul Brayson and another couple of goals from long-standing winger David McTiernan.

Baker's cooking up something special for Star
The Chronicle - Malcolm Pratt

Newcastle Blue Star's Director of Football Bob Morton is hoping the club's revival under recently-installed manager Paul Baker will continue to prosper - from the beginning of next season.

After a campaign in which the club recently asked to be relegated back to the Alngrove Northern League before doing a u-turn and looking to continue in the UniBond Division One, Blue Star finished the season in eighth place.

Morton would be only too delighted if Baker's men were to start next season where they have finished off.
"Since Paul Baker took over, the players have reacted well and performed magnificently," he said.
"We have won eight, drawn one, and lost two of our last eleven games.
"That is eighty per cent championship form. Paul has got the team to gel well and he prefers to play fluent football, and if we can mirror our end of season run from the start of next term, then I don't envisage us having any problems."

The Star are also looking forward to travel by coach for away games next season.
"We are trying to get things right logistically by having a squad within a certain radius, " said Morton.
"Travelling by car is not good - it is not the right preparation."

Meanwhile Morton has been very impressed with striker Lee Novak - and hopes the club can hold onto the teenager with League clubs sniffing around.
"Lee is only nineteen but was recently on trail at Chesterfield," he said.
"Preston and a club in Australia are also interested in having a look at him, and although we want him to stay with us, we would not stand in his way."

Blue Star Announcemnet

After less than a season in the UniBond League Division One North, Newcastle Blue Star have asked to be relagated back into the Arngrove Northern League First Division.

Blue Star are aware that this news will probably send shock waves throughout the North East footballing community, and also probably put smug smiles on some faces but, the decision has been made largely due to the vast travelling distances involved with playing in the UniBond League, and the lack of support. It's a lot of commitment to ask from young semi-professional players.

We have high ambitions and want to become a major force in local football, this ambition and drive at Blue Star has not changed.

Director of football at Blue Star Bob Morton states; "The nearest grounds to Kingston Park are at Harrogate and Leeds. Last Saturday we couldn't leave un til 11am because a couple of the players had to do a couple of hours work and we didn't return until 8pm.

"The lads got out of their cars at 1.45pm and were on the pitch at 2.15pm. They didn't have a proper meal and were not adequately prepared. They can't be enjoying that. Away matches have certainly been a problem which has refelcted in our results.

"It's worth pointing out that we've lost just once at home and that was to our leaders Skelmersdale United.

"The fact that we've been so good on home soil yet so poor away tells it's own story and we just couldn't go on like this.

"Hopefully, we can get back into the Northern Legaue and play North East-based teams again and create a bit of atmosphere at Kingston Park."

Arngrove Northern League Secretary Tony Golightly told The Chronicle;
"There's no point making a club play in a league they don't want to be with, Blue Star have tried it and decided it's not for them so I say let them come back. It would be good for them and us."

Blue Star are currently awaiting news from the FA.

Dream Team

Former Blyth Spartans and Newcastle Benfield BP boss Paul Baker has teamed up with Tommy Cassidy in what Newcastle will hope to be a dream ticket.

Cassidy took over at Kingston Park a few weeks into the seasonn and, following the recent departure of Tony Elliott, Casidy is pleased with the move.

Cassidy said "Paul knows the North East scene inside out, particularly the Arngrove Northern League, and I'm confident we can take the club to the next level.

"Paul will assist me in this ambition but we will not acheive our objective over night. Clubs have to be built from the bottom up and this is our first season in the UBL, so there's still a lot to do."

CLUB NEWS
Ben Pringle has gone on a months loan to Morpeth Town.

Please note the games on Wednesday 5th March and Monday 31st March have subsequently been cancelled.

New Signing s for Blue Star

Newcastle Blue Star boss Tommy Cassidy made a double swoop to bolster his squad ahead of the play-off position battle!

Cassidy is delighted to have signed Jamie McClen and Dean Gordon.

McClen, formerly at Newcastle, has come in on loan until the end of the season from Gateshead.

Gordon, who played more then 200 games for Crystal Palace before joining Middlesbrough in a near £1m deal, has joined Cassidy who will see how things go with the experienced player.

“Jamie McClen is a quality player while Dean Gordon has a vast experience. I’ll be taking a look at Dean in the next few games and then decide on a permanent move but the pair are definitely going to feature in the squad.” Said Cassidy.

“We’ve haven’t lost for the last four weeks and are now just six points behind Ossett Albion who currently occupy the last play-off place. (Blue Star take on Ossett Albion in their next home game on Saturday 23rd February, kick off 3pm).

“If we beat them we will be right back in the action and that’s why I decided we needed to bolster the squad especially with a couple of players out injured,” said Cassidy.
